BEN Namibia
Bicycle Empowerment Network - Namibia
BEN Namibia is a non profit organisation based in Windhoek, the capital of Namibia. Their main work is bicycle distribution. They import donated new and secondhand bikes, parts and accessories from overseas partner organisations and refurbish them by employing and training local people in bike mechanics. They distribute bicycles to community-based organisations (CBOs) whose volunteers and staff use them to greatly improve the efficiency of their work.

BEN Namibia up and away...
BEN Namibia signed the lease on a 400 sqm warehouse in May 2005. Our first 100 bikes arrived from charities in Aachen, Germany and Breda, the Netherlands via BEN in Cape Town on 13 May. Trainees have been busy learning the finer points of bike mechanics during the refurbishment process.
