Humanity Rocks

How you can work with us: The Humanity Rocks Initiative

The old adage 'it's better to give than to receive' was never truer than when sending a BEC to Africa. The benefits to you and your community are enormous:

- Various community groups work together towards a common goal understood by all, no matter their age.
- Students are exposed to being a good Humanitarian in a way they can understand and relate to.
- It's environmentally friendly and it creates sustainable clean transportation.

It's easy to do: it can be done once a year and it's just plain fun to do. Everyone will get that special feeling that Humanity Rocks.

The model is simple, we at Bicycles for Humanity will provide the following

- Support in whatever area you need it, our goal is to help you and your team have a great experience and fun, while doing it.
- We will help you find a container, get firm pricing for the container, shipping and all fees and help handle all the logistics related shipping the BEC. We will arrange all of this ahead of time so that you will know exactly what it will cost to send a BEC to your partner community in Africa.
- We will put a web site up for your group and keep it current and up to date for you and the groups you work with.
- Our Community platform for blogs, forums and sharing and publishing information is available to you and all associated with your initiative.
- We will provide all support material, Limited Edition Prints, cards and Posters needed to help you raise the needed funds.

$21 covers all the costs of sending one bike, $9000 helps a community. Bicycles for Humanity can assist in fundraising activities by providing cards, posters, and Limited Edition Prints as fundraising and publicity material. We can also advise you on how to organize fundraising and bike collection events, plus we will provide grants of $1000 per container for bicycles destined for AIDS workers in Africa.

In our first year, Kelowna, Wanatchee and Vancouver organized and sent BECs to Africa. Thunder Bay, Toronto and Calgary are in the planning stages. There are literally hundreds of communities across North America and Europe that could easily organize BECs and partner with communities in Africa.

It's easy, it's fun, it will make a lasting positive impression on your community, and citizens all will know that they have changed a life and literally the lives of thousands in Africa,

A few fundraising ideas:

- Organize a bike ride/race using proceeds from entry fees.
- Sell BFH merchandise, cards, posters, limited edition prints, all provided free of charge.
- Seek local business sponsorships.
- Organize a concert, dance or dinner.
- Organize a community car wash or BBQ.
- Students can draw pictures of bikes and sell them for $2 or more each.

These are just a few, let your imagination run wild and they are many more ideas depending on whether it's a church, civic group or school fundraising.

Having learned the logistics and the best way to ship containers to Africa and have them cleared, you have our full support, plus access to all of our electronic material and tools at our website.
