This is a belated and heartfelt thank you for your generous donation of bicycles to the Canadian Mental Health Association Kelowna Branch. Your donation means the world to people in our community who can't afford to buy their own bike or who have never imagined themselves out for a ride. Your generosity is also greatly appreciated by our Board of Director's and staff.
CMHA Kelowna exists to promote the mental health of all and supports the resilience and recovery of people with mental illness through advocacy, education, research and service. There are over 400 members in our Clubhouse program. Everyday, more than 70 people come to CMHA to build skills, develop and maintain friendships, learn about resources and services and enjoy what life has to offer. Each member is a person who has experienced significant mental health issues that have impacted their self esteem, feelings of hopefulness, ability to find decent housing, earn an income, and ability to find something meaningful to do.
One in five British Columbians will experience a significant mental health issue at some point in their lives. Most of us know a friend, colleague or family member who has dealt with mental illness. It's a fact of modern life and it can really throw individuals and families in our community a proverbial "curve ball". Our organization attempts to provide opportunities for people to build resilience, hope and learn the value of the mind+body connection. Your generous donation helps to make that possible and provides people with an opportunity to get fit, enjoy group rides and experience the freedom a bicycle can offer.
Thank you. I do hope that we will be able to meet someday so that I am able to thank you in person.
