Rotary

Rotary is very active in Cycling and cycling initiatives globally. In addition to helping collect bikes last year in partnership with B4H, many Rotary Clubs globally organize bike initiatives and rides. Within Rotary, we have a Cycling to Serve group, http://www.cyclingtoserveuscanada.com. This group is very active in Europe and on the Eastern seabord and it is a terrific group that merits joining.

Last year in our initial year, Rotary clubs in District 5060 were very instrumental in helping send four containers of bicycles to Africa. We cannot thank the clubs enough in Kelowna, Vernon, Westbank, Merrit, Peachland, Chase and Osoyoos, along with the numerous clubs in and around Wanatchee, Washington for their hard work and support for the program.

In talking with many of the club members, the common view was that collecting bikes & being a part of this was an important and worthwhile local project as well as a worthy international one. This year many more clubs are getting invovled in Canada, the US, Australia and the UK. This page will highlight some of the terrific work done by Rotary Clubs globally. If your club is interested or has sent bikes to Africa or participated in local bike initiatives, we would love to hear form you and add your club to the list supporting bicycle initiatives.

This year Rotary Clubs in partnership with community groups will be organizing collections in Comox and Vernon, British Columbia, Thunder Bay, Ottawa and Brampton, Ontario, Manchester, UK and Sydney Australia. More will be posted as the collection dates near.
