A Small Sample of the Volunteers

Steve Klassen
Steve is a local family physician who volunteered in Zambia in 2006. He saw first hand the incredible need there. He can attest to what Stephen Lewis describes in his book, Race Against Time. He is an avid cyclist and is passionate about both local and global issues.

Mike Yuan
Mike is a Lakehead University professor. Mike lived in East Africa years ago as a Peace Corp volunteer. He realized that the need for transportation back then is still as urgent today in Africa. B4H has given Mike the opportunity to combine his love for cycling and his desire to lend a helping hand up to those in need in Africa and in Thunder Bay. Mike's goal in life is to bike from as far north as you can get in North America to as far south as you can get in South America. He has biked the North America section to central Mexico and is looking for brave souls to accompany him on sections further south.

Nicola Novak
Nicola is a Diabetes Nurse Clinician with a passion for helping others locally and globally. One of her goals in life is to travel to a third world country to volunteer some nursing time working along side other healthcare professionals. Nicola is a member of Redwood Park Church and recently viewed a video of Bono from the group U2. She was very moved by all the work Bono is doing for Africa. Nicola has become a B4H volunteer to help colleagues in Africa with transportation so they may treat those living with HIV/AIDS.

Joseph Modi: Webmaster
Joseph is an aircraft maintenance technician, computer and network technician, and a teacher. He is the webmaster of B4H. He originally comes from Africa and was thrilled at the B4H Project benefiting teachers and health workers. The passion of extending his gifts started before coming to Canada while serving in a refugee school board and his local church in Cairo, Egypt. Though not officially a missionary, he has been to eight countries in African, Asia and N. America and can easily compare life. It is Joseph’s goal to one day become a missionary to fully use his gifts partially or wholly, for “where there is no vision the people perish.”
